What Users Are Saying Z GRILLS ZPG-L600D Pellet Grill

Z GRILLS ZPG-L600D is a recent addition of Z Grills. So, there aren’t too many reviews about this on Amazon or other platforms.

But, it still has plenty of reviews. And, most of them are positive ones. The first thing people love about this grill is – the machine is quite easy to move around.

It is shockingly lightweight; the walls are thin but quite sturdy.  Another thing is although pellet grills taste better, they are notorious for temperature swings.

But, thanks to the PID temperature controller, the swings are quite minimal in this grill.

Anyway, it may seem small from the outside but has a  large enough cooking area. That fits 24 burgers or 5 racks of ribs at a go.

People love all of these facts about this pellet grill. At the same time, there are many complaints about it too. Like the dip pellet is round, so placing the water pan is a pain. Moreover, pellet capacity is also small, only 8 lbs.

However, without these few shortcomings, Z Grills L600D is perfect in every way. Experts or newbies both liked it. Still having confused about it, for your convenience you may consider reviewing Z grills vs Traeger grills or explore its key features below.

What is the Key Features of the Z Grills ZPG-L600D Pellet Grill

Construction And Assembly

Initially, I assumed that like other grills in its price range, the Z Grills ZPG-L600D would suffer from large temperature fluctuations and a weak smoke flavor. However, my first impressions were proven wrong upon closer inspection.

Despite its thin exterior, which may lead one to believe it is of poor quality, the L600D is actually quite strong and sturdy. It boasts a cooking area of 573 sq. in. and can hold up to 8lbs of pellets. Its construction is a combination of steel and stainless steel.

While assembling the grill is not overly difficult, it is time-consuming. It took me approximately two hours to complete the assembly process. However, detailed visual instructions are provided, which means that even individuals with little experience should have no issues putting it together.

Versatility

Z GRILLS ZPG-L600D offers 8 types of cooking in 1 grill. You can BBQ, bake, roast, braise, smoke, grill, sear, char-grill with this single grill.

It has a temperature range of 180°F to 450°F. L600D marketing materials claim that the temperature can go as high as 1000°F if you keep the slide plate flame broiler open. That’s really hot!

PID Temperature Controller

With a budget pellet grill, my issue is that their temperature swings a lot. And, that affects the quality. But, Thanks to the PID temperature controller, the temperature fluctuation is quite controlled in L600D.

At most, it swings 15 degrees plus/minus in any direction. It’s a good enough reason for me to have this grill.

Portability

This Z grills is light and effortless to wheel around. This is likely because of the thin metal sheets. At first, I was upset, because this thickness is not enough for heat retention. But after grilling, my institution became wrong.

Anyway, you got four wheels, unlike its twin brother Z Grill L6002B, making it more portable than ever. The wheels are plastic-made but sturdy enough to last years.

Overall, the machine is quite portable as advertised.

Cleanup And Maintenance

Cleaning is always a pain, especially if you are not prepared. There is no skippable way for that.

According to the manual, if you cover the drip plate with heavy-duty aluminum foil, it can be cleaned easily. If you do so, you don’t have to scrub the plate after every use.

However, if you are thinking of searing after a grilling cycle, this won’t be a convenient method. As you have to remove the foil every time. The manufacturer recommends using a foil liner.
